Murine ventricular cardiomyocytes were embedded in disks of PVA-PEG/RGD hydrogels and placed on a stretching device (IsoStretcher) to examine the conversion of mechanical stimuli into Ca2+ signaling. The cardiomyocytes in the gel were loaded with the Ca2+ indicator Fluo-4 AM and calcium transients were recorded upon radial stretching of the cells.Publications
