3-D Life Hydrogels were used as an alternative to alginate hydrogels to avoid the LPS-like immune response in macrophages which was shown in the past to be induced by the polysaccharide alginate. Dendritic cells (DCs) grown in soft and stiff hydrogels are shown to differentiate into different phenotypes as a result of the different stiffness of the hydrogel. The study shows how matrix stiffness governs DC phenotypes, a mechanism which possibly contributes to DC dysregulation in cancer.Publications
