Spheroids of melanoma cells expressing GFP (green fluorescent protein) were embedded in 3-D Life Hydrogel to more closely resemble the 3D in vivo tumor architecture. The effect of the drug cisplatin on cell death of individual spheroids was followed in cells with or without a p53 mutation, respectively. Results clearly show how the p53 mutation conveys resistance to cell death through this drug.Publications
